StorageQuest Selected by Banco Interfin of Costa Rica to Manage Document Archive

Bank’s 30 million Documents to be Managed by Company’s Storage Appliance

Ottawa, Canada – November 15, 2005 StorageQuest Inc. today announced that its MSM 150 Storage Management Appliance has been selected as the archival management solution by Banco Interfin of Costa Rica.

Banco Interfin is a private bank located in Costa Rica, established in 1979. Corporación Interfin S.A. is dedicated to providing international financing and business services for industrial as well as commercial companies. Working with StorageQuest’s Central America reseller GSI, they have developed a document image archival solution to support the bank’s 700+ users within all of the banks agencies throughout the country.

“We are extremely pleased in earning the trust and confidence of Banco Interfin to provide the archival management solution for their entire archival repository which consists of checks, credit cards, corporate and personal credits, etc. Our reseller GSI was instrumental in this win by working closely with the bank’s staff and our company to develop a complete document and image archival solution centered on our MSM 150 appliance. The MSM 150 will provide network attached document caching and manage a Plasmon optical library where the permanent records will reside on WORM media” said Fred Bedard, StorageQuest’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We see this as just the beginning for us within the international marketplace as we have many similar projects currently in the works and this win clearly establishes a great reference for our company’s products.”

“The bank’s problem centered on greatly improving the response time for the bank’s 700 users, which was increasing and upsetting users due the high resolution of the images and number of users needing access to the information” said Jacobo Murillo Subirós, GSI’s General Manager. “To solve this situation, we decided the StorageQuest MSM 150 was the best all around solution. It will be used as both an 800GB network cache where we can have most of the 30M images and manage the optical library archive to improve the response time to end users.”

StorageQuest Sets Aggressive New Pricing Strategy for its MSM 150 Network Appliance for Optical Storage Management

Manufactures & Resellers View New Pricing a Significant Business Enabler

Ottawa, Canada – October 20, 2005 StorageQuest Inc. today announced an aggressive new price and business strategy for its MSM 150 optical storage management appliance. This dramatic new pricing and feature rich appliance model will establish a very cost effective solution for any archiving business application.

“Our new price and product packaging is in direct response to market demand: more features, better performance at a lower cost and make it simple. We have significantly lowered the cost to network enable any optical library as a network attached storage resource while vastly improving its data transfer performance through our new appliance model said Fred Bedard, StorageQuest’s Vice President of Sale & Marketing. We’ve thrown out the traditional industry pricing model whereby costs are based on many variables such as: the number of drives, media type and slot count as well and many other options which just added up to an expensive and complex solution. We’ve established a new fixed price model whereby we do not charge for a specific type of optical technology (DVD, MO, or UDO) the number of slots or storage capacity of the optical library. We have simplified our product line into just a few product models. Each includes: unlimited optical drives, media type and library capacity integrated RAID-1 cache, Gig-E, SCSI and FireWire interfaces together with a full one-year warranty at a price point that starts under $5000.00 for a complete plug-n-play solution. Our new model dramatically drives down the cost and complexity issues surrounding the utilization of optical storage for archival applications. This change was needed within the optical storage industry for it to capitalize on the vast number of archival opportunities which continue to present themselves ranging from: medical, financial to email for compliance requirements.”

“We’re excited about StorageQuest’s new price strategy we expect this move to be a huge boost for our resellers by enabling them to more economically deploy network based optical archiving solutions for their customers, said Marty Sos Plasmon’s’ Vice President of Sales.”

“The MSM 150 family combines the latest hardware and software technologies in an easy to use appliance package targeted to do one thing: “make compliant archival storage solutions network attached and open using proven industry standards, and it does it extremely well” said Paul Greene, Founder of Data Archive Corp. and 10 year optical storage solution provider based in Massapequa Park, NY. This new pricing and packaging of the MSM 150 makes a great technology solution now a great business solution. I can now very effectively lower the cost of entry for many customers as well as improve my margins so it’s a win-win situation as far as I’m concerned.”

Pricing and Availability:

The StorageQuest MSM 150 is currently shipping and available from authorized StorageQuest resellers worldwide with pricing starting under $5,000.00 USD for a complete network attached storage management solution for any optical library. Appliance includes; 250GB or 400 GB RAID level 1 cache, Gig-E, SCSI and FireWire interfaces and a full one year warranty.

StorageQuest & Primera Target SMB’s with DVD Backup & Archive Solution to Replace Tape Autoloaders

StorageQuest & Primera Target SMB’s with DVD Backup & Archive Solution to Replace Tape Autoloaders

Low Cost, Network Enabled Compliant Storage Solution Will Challenge Tape

Ottawa, Canada – October 27, 2005 StorageQuest Inc. today announced it has certified its REFLECTOR Backup and Archival Software with the recently introduced Bravo XR Disc Publisher from Primera Technology, Inc. This is the first DVD backup solution to challenge the low-to-mid range tape autoloaders providing an archival and backup solution for compliancy with an industry standard TRUE WORM media.

Until today, tape autoloaders have been utilized in most small and medium business applications for backup of critical data. Tape based solutions have always had reliability concerns and used proprietary formats to record data, making data exchange expensive as all systems must have a tape drive and associated software to read the tape.

Today this has all changed. StorageQuest’s REFLECTOR backup and archival application, when combined with Primera’s new Bravo XR, is setting a new standard in how users will implement and utilize DVD technology as an integrated storage solution to meet backup and archival requirements of their data in an open and very cost effective way.

REFLECTOR’s Disk-to-Disc architecture is designed to enable businesses to move from tape to DVD disc backup for compliant long-term data protection. REFLECTOR’s long-term data protection features include file spanning, file splitting and optical disc labeling. File spanning automatically records optical discs for any backup dataset and optimally packs the data requiring the smallest number of discs. File splitting allows files larger than a single piece of optical media to split across multiple discs. Split files can be restored without using the REFLECTOR software on any operating system. The REFLECTOR software uses the industry standard UDF (Universal Disc Format) so that any data written to a DVD can be read on any Windows, Linux, UNIX or MAC OS X system without any client software. When you consider that just about every server, desktop and laptop is shipped with a DVD drive, there is no special hardware or software required to retrieve your data.

REFLECTOR will also automatically print a full-size, full-color, dynamic label on each DVD disc with the fields and information the user has specified during the setup process, making each disc is easily identifiable. Unique bar-codes can also be printed.

“This announcement is more than just a certification process. It marks for the first time that there is a network-enabled backup and archive application supporting an automated, optical, rack-mounted data storage solution,” said Fred Bedard, StorageQuest’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “There is now a backup solution that provides a very cost effective solution for compliant storage utilizing industry standard DVD, which is TRUE WORM by design. This is a key differentiator between our solution and magnetic disk and tape solutions which ’emulate’ WORM technology and are being touted as compliant storage solutions. When you consider a magnetic WORM tape can be erased by any standard magnetic eraser tool you have to ask how it can also be compliant. Another key differentiator is our breakthrough in price: for less than $4,000.00, you can have a network-enabled backup and archival solution that not only writes your data to standard DVD’s, but also prints a full-color label for easy identification of each disc’s contents. Try doing this with a tape solution.”

“With its unique, space-saving design and rugged construction, Bravo XR is our most versatile CD/DVD publishing unit ever,” said Mark D. Strobel, Primera Technology’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “When integrated with StorageQuest’s REFLECTOR Software, users in ‘mission critical’ applications will find it to be a highly-reliable solution at a far more affordable price than traditional tape based solutions.”

Pricing and Availability

The StorageQuest REFLECTOR Backup & Archive Software is priced at US$795 MSRP for a complete network-enabled solution for the Primera Bravo XR Disc Publisher. The Bravo XR Disc Publisher is priced at US$2995 MSRP. The Rack Mount Kit is US$99.95. Both the Reflector and Bravo XR Disc Publisher are currently shipping from StorageQuest and Primera resellers worldwide.

StorageQuest Announces Support for Plasmon Compliant Media

Ottawa, CANADA – September 20, 2005 – StorageQuest Inc. today announced its MSM 150 optical storage management appliance now has full support for the Plasmon Compliant Write-Once UDO Media.

“This is a very unique product capability which will provide users an important new option for archival storage applications. StorageQuest’s implementation enables storage administrators to format Plasmon’s Compliant Write-Once UDO Media with the UDF (Universal Disk Format) file system. Files can be written and read from any client on the network just like any other media type through the MSM 150. The storage administrator can permanently destroy files by issuing the new ‘shred’ command. This command will read the entire volume, and shred all sectors that are not used by the UDF file system, thus removing the raw data associated with the files that have been deleted. This leaves the actual UDF File system intact and the rest of the volume can still be used for reads and writes, but the destroyed files can in no way be recovered” said Fred Bedard, StorageQuest’s Vice President of Sale & Marketing.” The Compliant Write-Once UDO media is designed for archive applications subject to regulatory compliance and for ILM environments that have very specific data retention and disposition requirements.”

“We are pleased to have StorageQuest add support for the UDO Compliant Write Once Media” said Dave DuPont, SVP Sales and Marketing for Plasmon. “Many customers will benefit from the unique new features the media offers, namely the authenticity and longevity of True Write Once UDO, with selectable, auditable and absolutely sure one-time data shredding. No other storage technology can beat this combination.”

Learn More About the MSM 150

UDO Professional Archival Storage Media

UDO features blue laser technology to achieve far greater data densities, resulting in dramatically higher media capacities. First generation UDO media has a capacity of 30GB, with a roadmap extending to 60GB and 120GB in future generations. UDO media is available in Write Once (True Write Once and Compliant Write Once) and Rewritable media formats. Each of the three media types has its own physical and operational properties making it well suited for different service levels within an overall archive strategy. Since UDO drives and Plasmon optical libraries support all media types, organizations can match the media format with the specific demands of each document class.

Compliant Write Once media combines longevity and secure authenticity of True Write Once UDO media with the ability to shred expired records for document classes that demand physical disposal. Designed specifically to assist organizations in meeting regulations on data retention and disposition while managing corporate risk, Compliant Write Once media can be used in a wide range of financial, administration and legal applications.

StorageQuest Announces REFLECTOR™ for Primera® – a Network Backup and Archive Solution for Small and Medium Size Businesses

Innovative solution is the first to utilize Primera CD and DVD publication equipment to offer small and medium businesses (SMBs) an unprecedented value in data protection.

Ottawa, Canada – July 6, 2005 – StorageQuest Inc., the leader in network attached optical storage management, today announced the REFLECTOR line of Network Backup & Archive solutions. This is the industry’s first solution to take advantage of the off-the-shelf CD and DVD publication hardware from Primera Technology. REFLECTOR offers SMBs a feature-rich data protection solution and an information publishing solution at a cost far less than most tape solutions.

REFLECTOR is a unique solution in Windows® data protection, providing comprehensive, cost-effective, and compliant backup and recovery. Its intuitive user interface simplifies installation and management through easy-to-use wizards that configure and backup servers and networked users.

REFLECTOR’S Disk-to-Disc architecture is designed for businesses changing from magnetic disk/tape to optical disc backup for compliant long-term data protection. REFLECTOR’S long-term data protection features include file spanning, file splitting and optical disc labeling. File spanning automatically records optical discs for the backup dataset and optimally packs the data requiring the smallest number of discs. File splitting manages files larger than a piece of optical media to split across multiple discs. Split files can be restored without using the REFLECTOR software on any operating system. REFLECTOR will automatically print a full-size, full-color label on each piece of media with the information the user has specified during the setup process. Printing is automatic so each disc is easily identifiable.

REFLECTOR software, when combined with Primera Technology’s Bravo II™ or BravoPro™ Disc Publisher, also enables businesses to publish and duplicate CDs or DVDs for marketing, software, training videos, images and other business data. By using REFLECTOR as a backup solution and a CD/DVD duplicator, small businesses are able to greatly increase productivity by performing several functions lowering their cost of ownership.

“SMBs are among the fastest growing IT segments today,” said Fred Bedard, StorageQuest’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “These companies have IT needs that are just as sophisticated as enterprise level companies, but look for solutions that are simple to install, use and maintain. REFLECTOR’s unique capability of utilizing Primera’s optical storage publication hardware delivers an unprecedented value to these businesses. They not only reap the benefits of a feature-rich network backup and archive solution, but they also get an award-winning CD/DVD publishing system all-in-one-solution.”

“When you consider the pervasive nature of CD and DVD technology, it’s easy to see why a solution like REFLECTOR is necessary,” said Mark Strobel, Primera Technology’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Backup and archival to optical media has multiple benefits over tape including lower cost, proven reliability and portability to any operating system without unique hardware or software. With the added benefit of True WORM media, all data will meet compliance regulations for unalterable data storage.”

Jon Toigo, CEO of Toigo Parnters International, the industry’s only consumer-focused research and analysis company adds, “Long outside the economic reach of smaller companies, WORM technology has finally come down to earth with the release of StorageQuest’s REFLECTOR. Now, those concerned about regulatory compliance and non-reputability in long term data storage can leverage this inexpensive technology to integrate with existing DVD media-based publication systems to make short work of the problem.”

Pricing and Availability

StorageQuest’s REFLECTOR is available today for the Primera Bravo II and BravoPro Disc Publishers. Pricing starts at $795.00 for the SERVER EDITION. An optional CLIENT PAC, intended for server desktop users, is available at $150.00 for single quantity users. Discounted multi-client packs are also available. Powerfile® and StorageQuest™ Unite to Provide Certified Archive Storage Solution for Cost-Effective Regulatory Compliance

Partnership Combines Network Attached Storage with Reliable, Industry-Standard DVD Media to Deliver Scalable Solution for Longterm Data Archive

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 27, 2005 – PowerFile®, the worldwide volume leader in DVD storage libraries, today announced it has certified the StorageQuest™ MSM 150 series product line for use with their award-winning R200 series DVD storage libraries. StorageQuest, the leader in Network Attached optical storage management, produces the Multi-services Storage Manager (MSM) 150, an appliance-based solution that utilizes Network Attached Storage (NAS)connectivity to seamlessly integrate PowerFile DVD storage libraries into existing network infrastructures.

By combining the ease-of-use and quick access of disk-based NAS with reliable, unalterable Write Once Read Many (WORM) DVD media, PowerFile and StorageQuest are able to deliver an ideal solution for archival storage with unmatched price/performance. The open systems approach leverages the low cost of both Ethernet connectivity and DVD media to simplify management of archival information in small-to-medium sized businesses. Healthcare, financial, government, life science, legal and publicly traded organizations can now easily and cost-effectively satisfy stringent regulatory retention requirements for critical information.

“Explosive data growth rates combined with stringent retention requirements creates a significant challenge for small-to-medium organizations with limited resources,” said Jim Sherhart, director of marketing at PowerFile. “Pure magnetic archive solutions such as Content Addressable Storage (CAS) and tape based WORM are too expensive and complicated for smaller organizations, and do not adequately address the risks of magnetic interference and mechanical failure that put critical data at risk. By combining the benefits of NAS with industry-standard DVD media, PowerFile and StorageQuest offer a unique archive solution that satisfies the most stringent retention requirements for a fraction of the cost of today’s solutions.”

“The PowerFile StorageQuest partnership will greatly influence vertical markets that require secure, long-term archival of critical information,” said Fred Bedard, vice president of sales and marketing for StorageQuest. “By combining the strengths of PowerFile’s price-leading DVD libraries with StorageQuest’s MSM 150 network appliance, small-to-medium sized business can archive their data with a non-proprietary solution that is free from vendor lock-in.”
